We are looking for a Test Lead to join our team
At Telenor IoT, we are on a mission to connect the world through cutting-edge IoT (Internet of Things) solutions. As a fast-moving, innovative, and globally expanding company, we are seeking a Test Lead / Test Specialist to drive our software testing, advance our automated quality engineering, and ensure the highest reliability across our IoT platforms.
💼 Role and main tasks
As a Test Lead / Test Specialist, you will support our company in reaching our goals and objectives related to software quality, platform resilience, automated testing efficiency, and product excellence.
The role uniquely combines strategic test leadership with practical, hands-on testing execution. You will define and drive our overall test approach, integrate quality early in the development lifecycle, identify quality risks, and champion consistent testing methods across Software Engineering.
The work is performed in close cooperation with Software Developers, Product Owners, Software Architects, Agile Team Leads, and DevOps engineers. This position reports to the Head of Software Engineering and is placed in Karlskrona.
Tasks and responsibilities:
Define, drive, and implement risk-based test strategies, approaches, and test scopes for products and initiatives; provide test estimation and planning for agile delivery teams
Analyze functional and non-functional requirements to design, maintain, and execute comprehensive test suites (functional, integration, system, end-to-end, exploratory, and regression testing)
Drive early finding test practices; collaborate with developers to design, implement, and maintain automated test suites, integrating automated checks smoothly into CI/CD pipelines
Investigate, document, prioritize, and track defects across their full lifecycle, supporting developers with root-cause analysis and verification
Contribute to establishing and maintaining robust test environments, test fixtures, and realistic test data
Serve as the quality and testing subject matter expert across Software Engineering; coach team members in modern QA techniques, tools, and testing culture
Champion modern testing practices by integrating AI tooling (such as GitHub Copilot and LLM assistants) into test case generation, test data synthesis, and automation scaffolding, while helping the wider engineering team leverage AI to improve quality from day one.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent relevant education or professional experience
Several years of solid professional experience in software testing, quality assurance, or software development for complex software solutions
Proven experience leading or coordinating testing activities, defining test strategies, managing defect workflows, and reporting quality metrics in agile delivery environments
Strong in-depth understanding of software testing principles across all test levels: unit, integration, API/contract, end-to-end system, performance, and regression testing
Practical experience with automated testing tools, modern automation frameworks, and integrating test suites into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions)
Experience testing distributed architectures, microservices, cloud-native solutions (preferably AWS), and modern REST/event-driven APIs
Fluent in English (Swedish is a plus).
Following experiences are meritorious:
Experience from telecom, IoT, automotive, or complex distributed high-throughput platforms
Practical experience with, or a strong passion for exploring, modern AI tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, LLM-based coding/testing assistants) to accelerate test design, automate suites, and analyze complex edge cases.
🌟 As a person we believe:
You have a passion for high software quality and a sharp eye for edge cases, subtle dependencies, performance bottlenecks, and potential failure modes
You have an investigative mindset with a natural drive to understand how complex, distributed systems work under the hood and how they might break
You are methodical and well-organized, capable of planning and coordinating testing across initiatives while balancing quality, risk, delivery speed, and business value
You build high-trust relationships with developers, architects, and product owners; you challenge unclear requirements constructively and coach teams toward collective quality ownership
You take initiative to prevent defects before they occur and continuously seek out better tools, methods, and automation practices
